4.         CLIMATE PATTERNS IN AUGUST 2009

This section provides the climatological summary for the rainfall amounts and rainfall severity indices in the sub-region during August 2009.

 During August 2009 rainfall activities were observed over the southwestern and central parts of the northern sector and the western parts of the equatorial sector. The northern parts of the northern sector; southern and eastern parts of equatorial sector; and much of the southern sector received less than 50mm of rainfall (Figure 1).
