4. CLIMATE PATTERNS IN JULY 2008

This section provides the climatological summary for the rainfall amounts and rainfall severity indices in the sub-region during July 2008. The severity indices are derived for areas in the sub-region where July is not a dry month.

4.1 Rainfall amounts and performance for July 2008

During July 2008 rainfall activities were mainly reported over the western and central parts of the northern sector as well as the western parts of the equatorial sector. The northern parts of the northern sector; southern and eastern parts of equatorial sector; and much of the southern sector received less than 50mm of rainfall (Figure 1).
