Recent rainfall totals

Moderate to heavy rainfall greater than 500mm was western Ethiopia, western South Sudan, and in a few areas in western Kenya.

Moderate rainfall between 100 - 500 mm was in the southern parts of Sudan, in western Eritrea, in much of western, northern and central Ethiopia, in several parts of South Sudan, in much of Uganda, in parts of western and coastal Kenya, in northwestern Rwanda, and in coastal parts of Tanzania.

Light rainfall between 10 - 200 mm was observed in western, central and eastern Sudan, in coastal, central and southern Eritrea, in much of Djibouti, in northeastern eastern and southern Ethiopia, in much of Somalia, in northern, central and southeastern Kenya, in southwestern Uganda, in eastern Rwanda, much of Burundi, and in several parts of Tanzania.

Dry conditions (usual during this time of the year) were observed in northern parts of Sudan, in north-central and eastern parts of Kenya, and in central and western Tanzania.

Recent rainfall anomalies

Wetter than and much wetter than usual conditions were observed southwestern and western parts of Sudan, in central Eritrea, in parts of northern Somalia, in a few areas in northeastern and southern Ethiopia.

Usual rainfall conditions were observed in much of the central and southern parts of Sudan, in western Eritrea, in much of Ethiopia, in northwestern parts of Somalia, in much of South Sudan, in northwestern, central and southeastern Uganda, in parts of western and northeastern Kenya, in northwestern Rwanda, in much of Burundi, and several parts of Tanzania.

Drier than and much drier than usual conditions was in the central and eastern parts of Sudan, in southeastern Ethiopia, in southeastern South Sudan, in northern, central, coastal and southern parts of Kenya, in much of central and southern Somalia, in northeastern and southwestern Uganda, in eastern Rwanda, and in parts of northwestern, central and southwestern Tanzania.

Standardized Precipitation Index

Moderate to severely wetter than usual rainfall conditions were in western and southwestern Sudan, in central Eritrea, in some parts of coastal Djibouti, in parts of northeastern Somalia, in a few places in western, southern and eastern Ethiopia, and in a few parts of northwestern Tanzania.

Moderately drier than usual to severely dry conditions were observed in western, central, eastern and southeastern Sudan, in several parts of South Sudan and Uganda, in some places in northwestern, and central Ethiopia, in much of central and southern Somalia, in parts of northwestern, central, coastal and eastern Kenya.

Usual rainfall conditions were in the rest of the region.
