Recent rainfall totals

Rainfall amounts exceeding 500mm were observed in western parts of Ethiopia, southwestern parts of South Sudan, in northwestern and southeastern Uganda, in western and central, coastal parts of Kenya, in part of southern Somalia.

Moderate rainfall between 100 - 500 mm was observed in southern parts of Sudan, in several parts of Ethiopia, in northwestern, central and southern parts of Somalia, in several parts of Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi, in western, central, eastern and coastal Kenya, and in northwestern and northeastern Tanzania

Light rainfall between 10 - 100 mm was observed in western, central to eastern Sudan, several parts of Eritrea and Djibouti, in northeastern Ethiopia, in northeastern Somalia, in northwestern Kenya, and in central and southern parts of Tanzania

Dry conditions were observed in northern parts of Sudan, in part of northwestern Kenya.

Recent rainfall anomalies

Wetter than and much wetter than usual conditions were observed in northwestern parts of Eritrea, in several parts of Somalia and Kenya, in southern and southeastern parts of Ethiopia, in the areas around Lake Victoria, southern parts of Burundi, in isolated areas in central and southern South Sudan, in northwestern, northern and northeastern Tanzania.

Usual rainfall conditions were observed in southern parts of Sudan, in southwestern, central and southern parts of Eritrea, in much of Djibouti, in several parts of South Sudan, Uganda, and Rwanda, in northern and central parts of Ethiopia, in northwestern Kenya, and in parts of north, central and western Tanzania.

Drier than and much drier than usual conditions were observed in central Sudan, northeastern Ethiopia, and parts of central and southern Tanzania.

Standardized Precipitation Index

Moderate to severely wet rainfall conditions were observed northwestern Eritrea, in western, southern and southeastern Ethiopia, in several parts of Somalia, South Sudan and Kenya, in northwestern Uganda, in the area around Lake Victoria, in southern parts of Burundi, and in northwestern and northeastern parts of Tanzania.

Moderately dry to extremely dry conditions were observed central parts of Sudan, in northeastern parts of Ethiopia, and in a few areas in southwestern Uganda.

Usual rainfall conditions were observed in the rest of the region.
