Communicating climate risks is essential for building resilience to El Niño and other climate extremes. By understanding the risks and taking steps to prepare, communities can reduce the impacts of such climate change extremes. Communication plays a vital role in raising awareness and helping communities understand the steps and actions that can be taken. IGAD Climate Prediction and Applications Centre (ICPAC) in collaboration with the Network of Climate Change Journalists of the Greater Horn of Africa (NECJOGHA) is organizing a climate communication master class for scientists, journalists, communicators, and the general public to provide knowledge and understanding of the importance of climate information.

This webinar seeks to provide the necessary knowledge and skills, that will better equip journalists to inform the public about climate-related events such as El Niño. The webinar will also contribute to building resilience and promoting sustainable development in the region. Ultimately, improved communication about climate risks can empower individuals, communities, and policymakers to make informed decisions and take actions that address the challenges posed by climate change effectively.
