Launch of the IGAD Regional Focus of the 2024 Global Report on Food Crises
The IGAD Regional Focus of the Global Report on Food Crises provides a comprehensive assessment of acute food insecurity and malnutrition in the IGAD region in a particular year, including major food crises, populations of highest concern, trends over time and projections for the subsequent year. It also examines the main drivers of these food crises and presents the most recent available data and information on displacement and nutrition in the region.
The report serves as a key reference for governments, policy makers, and development and humanitarian actors in their efforts to tackle the root causes of food crises in the region.
IGAD intends to launch the IGAD Regional Focus of the 2024 GRFC on 22 August 2024. The launch will bring together leaders and representatives from IGAD member states, including Permanent Secretaries, State Ministers or Undersecretaries, Director Generals and other officials, alongside representatives from IGAD, its development and technical partners, UN agencies, NGOs, civil society and the media.
