Training on updating of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs)
Objective
All IGAD member states are signatory to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and have developed their Nationally Determined Contribution (NDCs), highlighting major interventions in support of climate adaptation and mitigation to address both short-term and long-term related challenges.
The ACP NDC tool is secured and provides the flexibility to Member States to address all relevant issues that arise in the context of the preparation of NDCs revision/submission and in coordination with the various sectors of activities as per their commitments under the Paris Agreement. Accordingly, it ensures that all information required by the UNFCCC is clearly spelt out in the form of an exhaustive checklist so that they are appropriately addressed by Member States. The tool also provides for inclusion of additional information on Adaptation, Gender, Capacity Building and financial needs. The training on this tool will thereafter be rolled out to all IGAD Member States who are currently updating their NDCs.
Participants
The workshop participants will be drawn from RICCAMA Project Technical Staff Unit and the Climate Change Directorate (CCD) of Kenya.
