Desert Locust Prediction 16-30 April
Climatic conditions highly suitable for desert locust development in South Sudan, eastern Ethiopia, northern Somalia, northwestern Kenya, and northeastern Uganda
The most infested areas are rangelands of Kenya and Ethiopia.

- Wind direction, which greatly determine swarm movement, forecasted to be generally southerly (blowing from south to north) in Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania.
- Sudan and Eritrea report to have controlled most swarm with intensive surveillance and control.
- Breeding areas increased in February and March due to suitable conditions & sandy soils in northern Kenya, Ethiopia Oromiya & SNNPR, Somalia’s Somaliland, Eritrea’s Buri Peninsula, Sudan’s Agig and Alibai. Hopper bands in those areas & some young adults already reported.
