Circulation Patterns Associated with Current and Future Rainfall over Ethiopia and South Sudan from a Convection-Permitting Model
This is the first African-lead analysis of the high resolution climate change simulations which allow convection to develop explicitly as opposed to using approximation methods. The research compares this model to a regional climate model with typical convection setup where convection is approximated. Improvements in certain characteristics of rainfall were noticed for the current climate. These results build confidence in future climate projections from the model that allows convection to develop explicitly. This is very important for adaptation and mitigation planning.
