Temperature anomalies
- Warmer than usual temperatures expected in the eastern and southern parts of the region.
- Cooler than usual temperatures predicted over central to northern Sudan and a few places in eastern and central Kenya.
Rainfall anomalies
- Wetter than usual conditions expected in localized areas of south-western Tanzania and coastal Kenya.
- Drier than usual conditions expected over most parts of Tanzania, Burundi, and south-western Rwanda.
Mean temperatures
- Moderate temperatures (20 - 32 ℃) expected over southern parts of Sudan, South Sudan, central to northern Uganda, Tanzania, northern and eastern Kenya, and most parts of Somalia, Djibouti, south-eastern and north-eastern Ethiopia, and western and coastal parts of Eritrea.
- Cold conditions (less than 20℃) expected over central to northern Sudan, central parts of Ethiopia and Eritrea, parts of northern Somalia, southern Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, central to western Kenya, and isolated areas in south-western Tanzania.
Total rainfall
- Moderate rainfall (50-200mm) expected over southern and western parts of Tanzania.
- Light rainfall (less than 50 mm) expected over eastern and northern Tanzania, coastal and central Kenya, south-western Burundi and Uganda, northern Rwanda, isolated areas in western Ethiopia, and the Red Sea coast of Somalia.
- Dry conditions expected over most parts of Sudan, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, northern Uganda, northern and eastern Kenya, and parts of central Somalia.
