Rainfall Forecast 06 - 13 Jan
Headlines: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in central and southern Tanzania.
- Very heavy rainfall above 200 mm (within the top 5 % on record) is expected in localized areas of central and southern Tanzania. Stakeholders are advised to take appropriate measures to mitigate potential impacts.
- Heavy rainfall between 100 - 200 mm (within the top 10 % on record) is expected in central and southern Tanzania.
- Moderate rainfall between 50 - 100 mm is expected over the north-western and south-eastern parts of Tanzania, and south-eastern parts of Burundi and Rwanda.
- Most parts of the region including Kenya, Uganda, Somalia, Djibouti, Ethiopia, South Sudan and Sudan (except the coastal parts of Sudan) are expected to remain dry.
Note: 1 mm of rainfall is equivalent to 1 litre of rainfall per square meter.

Temperature Forecast 06 - 13 Jan
- Warm temperatures above 28℃ expected in eastern parts of South Sudan, parts of western Ethiopia Gambela, in parts of Turkana county in Kenya, and parts of eastern Tanzania.
- Moderate conditions in the range of 20 - 28℃ are expected in central and southern Sudan, western South Sudan, central and northern Uganda, much of eastern Kenya, central and southern Somalia; southern, north-western and north-eastern Ethiopia; and much of Tanzania.
- Relatively cold conditions with temperatures less than 20℃ are expected in regions of northern Sudan, central Ethiopia, northern Somalia, western Kenya, southern Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi.
