Temperature
Temperature anomalies
- Warmer than usual temperatures expected in most of the GHA, including Eritrea, Ethiopia, northern Somalia, eastern and southern Sudan, north-western South Sudan, Rwanda, Burundi, central Kenya, and parts of north-western and central Tanzania.
- Colder than usual temperatures predicted over parts of central to northern Sudan, eastern South Sudan, and north-eastern Kenya.
Rainfall anomalies
- Wetter than usual conditions expected over parts of southern South Sudan, central to southern Ethiopia, northern Somalia, Uganda, Rwanda, north-eastern Burundi, and central to northern Tanzania.
- Drier than usual conditions forecasted over parts of central to southern Kenya, southern Somalia, and northern Tanzania.
Exceptional rainfall
- Heavy to very heavy (top 10-5%) rainfall expected over parts of cross-borders regions of Kenya-Ethiopia-South Sudan, and a few regions in northern Somalia, eastern, and southern Ethiopia, north-eastern to southern Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, northern Burundi, and Tanzania.
Mean temperatures
- Moderate temperatures (20 - 32 ℃) expected over South Sudan, southern, and eastern Sudan, central to northern Uganda, eastern and northern Kenya, south-eastern and northern Ethiopia, and most parts of Tanzania, Somalia, Djibouti, and Eritrea.
- Cold conditions (less than 20℃) expected in parts of north-western Sudan, southern to northern Ethiopia, southern Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and central to western Kenya.
Total rainfall
- Moderate rainfall (50-200mm) expected over Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, northern and western Tanzania, central to western Kenya, southern Ethiopia, southern South Sudan, and a few areas in northern Somalia.
- Light rainfall (less than 50 mm) expected over most parts of northern and eastern Ethiopia, central South Sudan, eastern and northern Kenya, southern Tanzania, and most parts of Somalia.
- Dry conditions expected over Sudan, northern South Sudan, northern Eritrea and parts of Eritrea, Djibouti, and central Somalia.
