Temperature
Temperature anomalies
- Warmer than usual temperatures expected in most parts of Sudan, South Sudan, Eritrea, northern Ethiopia, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, northern Tanzania, and parts of western Kenya and northern Somalia.
- Colder than usual temperatures predicted over parts of eastern Tanzania, eastern Kenya, and parts of northern Somalia.
Rainfall anomalies
- Wetter than usual conditions expected over parts of northern Somalia, central to eastern and western Ethiopia, northern South Sudan into southern Sudan.
- Drier than usual conditions predicted over central to southern Somalia, central to southern South Sudan, western and southern Kenya, and most parts of Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi.
Exceptional rainfall
- Heavy to very heavy (top 10-5%) rainfall expected over parts of northern Somalia and central to eastern Ethiopia.
Mean temperatures
- Hot conditions (above 32 ℃) expected over parts of Afar region in Ethiopia.
- Moderate temperatures (20 - 32 ℃) expected over most parts of Sudan, South Sudan, Eritrea, Somalia, eastern and northern Kenya, eastern Ethiopia, central to northern Uganda, and most parts of Tanzania.
- Cold conditions (less than 20℃) expected in central to western Ethiopia, parts of central to western Kenya, western Rwanda and Burundi, parts of north-eastern to southern Tanzania, and southern Uganda.
Total rainfall
- Heavy rainfall (above 200mm) expected over isolated areas of the Somalia-Ethiopia border and over western Ethiopia.
- Moderate rainfall (50-200mm) expected over western and southern Ethiopia, northern Somalia, south-western Uganda and western Rwanda.
- Light rainfall (less than 50 mm) expected over southern Sudan, most parts of South Sudan, central to north-western Uganda, central to western Kenya, central to southern Somalia, Burundi, and western and coastal regions of Tanzania.
- Dry conditions expected over northern Sudan, Djibouti, north-western and south-eastern Eritrea, northern and eastern Kenya, central to southern Tanzania, and parts of eastern Uganda, south-eastern South Sudan, and north-eastern Ethiopia.
