Temperature
- Warm temperatures above 32℃ are expected in north-eastern South Sudan (Upper Nile) , south-eastern Sudan (Sennar and Al Qadarif regions) and north-western Ethiopia (northern Afar region).
- Moderate temperatures in the range of 20 - 32 ℃ are expected in most parts of Sudan, South Sudan, Uganda, western & eastern Tanzania, northern & eastern Kenya, Somalia; Djibouti, Eritrea, and southern western and eastern Ethiopia.
- Relatively cold conditions with temperatures less than 20℃ are expected in central Ethiopia, south western Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi and parts of central & southern Tanzania.
Rainfall
Headline: Heavy to very heavy rainfall expected over south-western Kenya and northern Tanzania, while moderate rainfall is expected in most of the region.
- Heavy to very heavy rainfall (top 10 to 5% on record) is expected in parts of south-western Kenya and Tanzania with weekly rainfall between 100 - 200 mm.
- Moderate rainfall between 50 - 100 mm is expected in central and southern Ethiopia, Tanzania, parts of western Uganda, Rwanda, northern and south-eastern Tanzania, south-western Kenya, and coastal regions of the Kenya - Somalia border.
- Light rainfall less than 30 mm is expected in South Sudan, central and northern Uganda, northern and eastern Kenya, parts of southern Tanzania, southern and northern Somalia; Eritrea and northern and southern parts of Ethiopia.
- Dry conditions are expected in Sudan, south-eastern and north-western Ethiopia, southern Eritrea; Djibouti, central Somalia and parts of north-western Kenya.
