Temperature
Temperature anomalies
- Warmer than usual temperatures are expected in most parts of Eastern Africa.
- Cooler than usual temperatures are predicted over parts of eastern Kenya and a few cross-border areas of Ethiopia and South Sudan.
Rainfall anomalies
- Wetter than usual conditions expected over parts of southern Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, parts of northern Tanzania, and a few isolated areas in; northern Somalia, part of the Red Sea coast of Sudan, and south-western Ethiopia.
- Drier than usual conditions forecasted over southern Kenya as well as western to southern Tanzania.
Exceptional rainfall
- Heavy (top 10%) rainfall is expected in several parts of central to western Tanzania and central Burundi.
Mean temperatures
- Moderate temperatures between 20 - 32 ℃ expected over southern and eastern parts of Sudan, South Sudan, central to northern Uganda, Tanzania, northern and eastern Kenya, and most parts of Somalia, Djibouti, south-eastern and north-eastern Ethiopia, and Eritrea.
- Cold conditions with temperatures less than 20℃ expected in north-western Sudan, southern to northern Ethiopia, parts of northern Somalia, southern Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, central to western Kenya, and isolated areas in northern and south-western Tanzania.
Total rainfall
- Moderate rainfall (50-200mm) expected over central to western Tanzania, Burundi and Rwanda.
- Light rainfall (less than 50 mm) expected over southern Uganda, coastal and south-western Kenya, northern Somalia, coastal regions of Sudan, and small areas in south-western Ethiopia into part of southern South Sudan.
- Dry conditions expected over most parts of Sudan, South Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, Ethiopia, northern Uganda, central to northern Kenya, and parts of central Somalia.
