Temperature
Rainfall anomalies
- Wetter than usual conditions expected over western Ethiopia, northern South Sudan, northern and eastern Uganda, and western Kenya.
- Drier than usual conditions expected over southern regions of South Sudan, southern Ethiopia, Somalia, coastal regions of Tanzania, and eastern and northern Kenya.
Temperature anomalies
- Warmer than usual temperatures forecasted over most parts of the region.
- Cooler than usual temperatures expected in northern and eastern Kenya and parts of western Ethiopia.
Exceptional rainfall
- Heavy to very heavy (top 10%-5%) rainfall expected over western Ethiopia and a few places of western Kenya extending to eastern and northern Uganda, South Sudan, and north-eastern Somalia.
Mean temperatures
- Hot temperatures (above 32 ℃) expected over southern and eastern Sudan, north-western and central Eritrea, and Afar region in Ethiopia.
- Moderate to high temperatures (20 - 32℃) expected over eastern and northern Sudan, South Sudan, much of Uganda, most parts of Tanzania, eastern and northern Kenya, Somalia, Djibouti, and eastern and north-western parts of Ethiopia.
- Mild conditions (less than 20℃) expected over central to northern Ethiopia, central to western Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, and isolated areas in southern and northern Tanzania.
Total rainfall
- Moderate rainfall (50-200mm) expected over western and central Ethiopia, most parts of South Sudan, northern and eastern Uganda, western Kenya, and isolated areas in north-eastern Somalia.
- Light rainfall (less than 50 mm) expected over Rwanda, western Burundi, coastal and southern parts of Tanzania, most parts of Somalia, central to southern Uganda, most parts of Eritrea, parts of western Kenya, and southern Sudan.
- Dry conditions expected over central to northern Sudan, southern Eritrea, Djibouti, north-eastern and south-eastern Ethiopia, northern and eastern Kenya, and most parts of central, northern, and southern Tanzania.
