Temperature
Temperature anomalies
- Warmer than normal temperatures expected in Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia, western Kenya, most parts of Tanzania, eastern and south-western Uganda, Rwanda, and eastern South Sudan.
- Cooler than normal temperatures expected in a few regions of south-western Sudan, parts of western Ethiopia, and isolated regions in central to northern Kenya, and western Tanzania.
Rainfall anomalies
- More than normal rainfall expected over southern Sudan, northern and western South Sudan, and western Ethiopia.
- Less than normal rainfall expected over Uganda, southern South Sudan, southern Ethiopia, northern Kenya, and Somalia.
Exceptional rainfall
- Heavy (top 10%) rainfall expected over a few isolated regions in south-western Ethiopia and southern Sudan.
Mean temperature
- Hot conditions with temperatures above 32 ℃ expected over central to northern Sudan, north-eastern Ethiopia, and parts of Eritrea and Djibouti.
- Moderate temperatures between 20 - 32 ℃ expected over South Sudan, parts of Eritrea, eastern and southern Ethiopia, Somalia, eastern and northern Kenya, central to northern Uganda, and western and coastal Tanzania.
- Cold conditions with temperatures less than 20℃ expected in parts of central to northern Ethiopia, central to western Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, and parts of central to southern Tanzania.
Total rainfall
- Moderate rainfall (50-100 mm) expected over cross-border regions of southern Sudan and northern South Sudan, western Ethiopia, coastal regions of Somalia, Kenya, and Tanzania.
- Light rainfall (less than 50 mm) expected over Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, coastal and western Kenya, central to southern Somalia, coastal and western Tanzania, western and southern Ethiopia, southern Sudan, and western and southern South Sudan.
- Dry conditions expected over central to northern Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, northern Somalia, north-eastern Ethiopia, eastern and northern Kenya, and parts of central Tanzania.
