  • Warm conditions of up to 28℃ are expected in parts of Turkana and Marsabit counties (north-western Kenya), central Somalia, southern Sudan, and Afar region of Ethiopia.
  • Relatively cooler conditions are expected in north-western Sudan, highland regions of central Ethiopia, western Kenya, southern Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and isolated regions of Tanzania and Somalia. 
Heavy rainfall
Heavy rainfall is expected to continue over Burundi, Rwanda, and western Tanzania.
  • Very heavy rainfall between 100 - 200 mm (within the top 5% on record) is forecasted over the southern part of Burundi and Rwanda, and western Tanzania. These same areas experienced heavy rain in the previous week. Stakeholders are advised to take appropriate measures to protect lives and livelihoods. 
  • Dry conditions in most parts of Uganda, Kenya and Somalia up to the 20 th, after which moderate rains are expected. 
  • The majority of the northern countries, where the seasonal rainfall has ended, will remain dry, except the coastal region of Sudan which is expected to receive 10 - 30 mm of rainfall.
