Temperature anomalies
- Warmer than average temperatures expected over parts of northern Sudan, South Sudan, western Ethiopia, western Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and most parts of Tanzania.
- Colder than average temperatures predicted over most parts of Somalia, eastern Ethiopia, and eastern Kenya.
Rainfall anomalies
- Wetter than average conditions expected over central regions of Sudan, most parts of Eritrea, and northern Ethiopia.
- Drier than average conditions predicted over parts of western and eastern Ethiopia, north-western and eastern South Sudan, southern areas of Sudan, central to northern Uganda, and western Kenya.
Exceptional rainfall
- Extremely heavy (top 1%) rainfall expected over parts of eastern Sudan, and north-western Eritrea.
- Heavy to very heavy (top 10-5%) rainfall expected over parts of southern and western Sudan, north-western Eritrea, and north-eastern Ethiopia.
Mean temperatures
- Hot conditions (above 32 ℃) expected over northern Sudan, Afar region in Ethiopia, and coastal Eritrea.
- Moderate temperatures (20 - 32 ℃) expected over most parts of Sudan, South Sudan, southern and north-western Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia, south-eastern and north-eastern Ethiopia, northern and eastern Kenya, most of Uganda, and parts of south-eastern and north-western Tanzania.
- Cold conditions (less than 20℃) expected in central Ethiopia, southern Uganda, south western to central Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, and central parts of Tanzania.
Total rainfall
- Heavy rainfall (above 200mm) predicted over parts of western Sudan, north-western Eritrea, and central to northern Ethiopia.
- Moderate rainfall (50-200mm) expected over southern Sudan, South Sudan, central, and northern Ethiopia, and north-eastern Eritrea.
- Light rainfall (less than 50 mm) expected over parts of eastern and southern Tanzania, coastal and central Kenya, northern Uganda, southern Somalia, coastal parts of Eritrea, central to northern Sudan, and southern Ethiopia.
- Dry conditions expected over central to western Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, southern Uganda, northern and eastern Kenya, central to northern Somalia, and southern Ethiopia.
