Temperature
Rainfall anomalies
- Wetter than usual conditions expected over much of South Sudan, western Ethiopia, northern Uganda, and parts of southern, western, and central Sudan.
- Drier than usual conditions expected over central to northern Ethiopia, western Eritrea, central Uganda, isolated areas in southern and south-eastern Sudan, and coastal Somalia and Kenya.
Temperature anomalies
- Warmer than usual temperatures predicted over most parts of the Greater Horn of Africa (GHA).
- Cooler than usual temperatures expected in parts of western Sudan and isolated areas in Ethiopia and Kenya.
Exceptional rainfall
- Heavy to very heavy rainfall (top 10%-5%) expected in western and isolated areas of southern Sudan, much of South Sudan, western Ethiopia, and isolated areas in northern Uganda.
Mean temperatures
- Hot temperatures (above 32 ℃) expected over central to northern Sudan, Afar region in Ethiopia, Djibouti, coastal regions of Eritrea, and north-western coastal parts of Somalia.
- Moderate to high temperatures (20 - 32℃) expected over South Sudan, central to southern Sudan, eastern and northern Kenya, north-western and eastern Tanzania, Somalia, south-eastern Ethiopia, and central to northern Uganda.
- Mild conditions (less than 20℃) expected over central Ethiopia, southern Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, parts of southern, western, central to northern Tanzania, and central to western Kenya.
Total rainfall
- Heavy rainfall (greater than 200mm) expected over a small area in western Ethiopia.
- Moderate rainfall (50-200mm) expected over isolated parts of southern Sudan, much of South Sudan, western Ethiopia, northern Uganda, and a few places in western Kenya.
- Light rainfall (less than 50 mm) expected over southern to central Sudan, isolated areas in south-eastern South Sudan, central to eastern parts of Ethiopia, western Eritrea, much of Somalia, northern, eastern and southern Tanzania, coastal and central to western Kenya, and central to southern Uganda.
- Dry conditions expected over northern Sudan, coastal Eritrea, north-eastern and south-eastern Ethiopia, Djibouti, much of Somalia, northern and eastern Kenya, Burundi, Rwanda, and most parts of Tanzania.
