Rainfall
Temperature
Rainfall anomalies
- More than usual rainfall expected over parts of eastern Tanzania, central to southern Kenya, central to western Ethiopia and western parts of South Sudan.
- Less than usual rainfall expected over most parts of Uganda, Kenya, central to southern Somalia and northern parts of Tanzania.
Exceptional rainfall
- Rainfall exceeding the 90th percentile expected over regions of southern Ethiopia, parts of northern and central Kenya and parts of eastern Tanzania.
Floods Update
- Most of the places in southern Ethiopia, northern and central Kenya and parts of eastern Tanzania are likely to experience flooding incidences in the coming week. During this period, communities in high-risk areas are encouraged to be cautious.
Temperature anomalies
- Warmer than usual temperatures expected over most parts of the GHA.
- Cooler than usual temperatures expected over parts of central to northern Sudan and north-western Eritrea.
Mean temperatures
- Elevated temperatures exceeding 32℃ expected over parts of eastern South Sudan and cross-border regions of northern South Sudan and southern Sudan.
- Moderate to high temperatures (20-32℃) expected over most parts of the GHA.
- Mild temperature conditions (less than 20℃) expected most of the highlands across the GHA.
Heat Stress
- Elevated heat stress within the ‘Danger’ category expected over parts of Afar region in Ethiopia while most parts of South Sudan, northern and eastern Kenya, and central to southern Somalia are within the ‘extreme caution’ category.
Total rainfall
- Heavy rainfall (> 200mm) expected over parts of eastern Tanzania.
- Moderate rainfall (50-200mm) expected over parts of western South Sudan, southern Ethiopia, central Kenya and most parts of Rwanda and Burundi.
- Light rainfall (less than 50 mm) expected over most parts of South Sudan, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Kenya and southern and northern parts of Somalia.
