Temperature
Temperature anomalies
- Warmer than usual temperatures expected in most parts of Sudan, South Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, much of Tanzania, western Kenya, and northern Somalia.
- Colder than usual temperatures predicted over coastal areas of Tanzania and southern Kenya, and north-western Sudan.
Rainfall anomalies
- Wetter than usual conditions expected over parts of central and northern Somalia, western and south to south-eastern Ethiopia, and northern South Sudan.
- Drier than usual conditions predicted over southern Somalia, most parts of Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and Tanzania.
Exceptional rainfall
- Heavy to very heavy (top 10-5%) rainfall expected over parts of central to northern Somalia, and eastern Ethiopia.
Mean temperatures
- Moderate temperatures (20 - 32 ℃) expected over most parts of Sudan, South Sudan, Eritrea, Somalia, much of Kenya, south-eastern and north-eastern Ethiopia, Uganda, eastern Rwanda and Burundi, and most parts of Tanzania.
- Cold conditions (less than 20℃) expected in central to western Ethiopia, parts of central to western Kenya, western Rwanda and Burundi, and north-western Sudan.
Total rainfall
- Heavy rainfall (above 200mm) expected over isolated areas of the Somalia-Ethiopia border and western Ethiopia.
- Moderate rainfall (50-200mm) expected over western and south-eastern Ethiopia, eastern South Sudan, central and northern Somalia, south-western and north-western Uganda, and western Rwanda.
- Light rainfall (less than 50 mm) expected over most parts of South Sudan, much of Uganda, most parts of Kenya, north-eastern and southern Somalia, Burundi, and coastal and western regions of Tanzania.
- Dry conditions expected over Sudan, Djibouti, most parts of Eritrea, north-western and eastern Kenya, and central to southern Tanzania.
