Temperature
Temperature anomalies
- Warmer than average temperatures expected over parts of northern Sudan, western Ethiopia, western Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and most parts of Tanzania.
- Near average temperatures expected over most parts of South Sudan, southern Sudan, Somalia, eastern Kenya, and coastal Tanzania.
- Colder than average temperatures predicted over coastal parts of Somalia, isolated areas in southern Ethiopia and Sudan.
Rainfall anomalies
- Wetter than average conditions expected over southern regions of Sudan, north-western Eritrea, central to northern Ethiopia, northern and eastern South Sudan, northern Uganda, and parts of western Kenya.
- Drier than average conditions predicted over parts of central Ethiopia, south-western South Sudan, southern to central areas of Sudan, and isolated parts in western Kenya.
Exceptional rainfall
- Heavy to very heavy (top 10-5%) rainfall expected over parts of southern and western Sudan, north-western Eritrea, and central to northern Ethiopia.
Mean temperatures
- Hot conditions with temperatures above 32 ℃ expected over northern Sudan, the Afar region in Ethiopia, coastal Eritrea, and coastal Somalia.
- Moderate temperatures between 20 - 32 ℃ expected over southern to central parts of Sudan, South Sudan, north-western Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia, south-eastern and north-eastern Ethiopia, northern and eastern Kenya, much of Uganda, and parts of south-eastern and north-western Tanzania.
- Cold conditions with temperatures less than 20℃ expected in central Ethiopia, southern Uganda, south-western to central Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, and central parts of Tanzania.
Total rainfall
- Heavy rainfall (above 200mm) predicted over isolated parts of south-western Sudan, north-western Eritrea, and western Ethiopia.
- Moderate rainfall (50-200mm) expected over southern Sudan, South Sudan, central and northern Ethiopia, northern Eritrea, northern Uganda, and western Kenya.
- Light rainfall (less than 50 mm) expected over parts of eastern and southern Tanzania, coastal and central Kenya, southern Uganda, southern Somalia, coastal parts of Eritrea, central Sudan, Rwanda, and eastern Ethiopia.
- Dry conditions expected over central to western Tanzania, Burundi, northern and eastern Kenya, central to northern Somalia, and southern Ethiopia.
