Temperature
Exceptional rainfall
- Heavy rainfall (exceeding the top 10% on record) expected in a few areas of south-western Ethiopia.
Floods Update
- Heavy Rainfall is likely to lead to flooding in the flood-prone areas.
Rainfall anomalies
- More than usual rainfall expected over most parts of central to northern South Sudan, parts of south-western Ethiopia and western Kenya.
- Less than usual rainfall expected in most parts of Uganda, central to southern Somalia, and parts of western Ethiopia.
Temperature anomalies
- Warmer than usual temperatures predicted over most parts of the GHA.
Mean temperatures
- High temperatures (above 32℃) expected over most parts of Sudan, Djibouti, Eritrea, north-eastern Ethiopia, and parts of north-western Somalia.
- Moderate to high temperatures (20-32℃) expected over most parts of South Sudan, Uganda, Somalia, Kenya and Tanzania.
- Mild temperature conditions (less than 20℃) expected over Rwanda, Burundi, and parts of central to southern Tanzania, central to western Kenya and central to southern Ethiopia.
Heat Stress
- Highest levels of heat stress expected in cross-border regions of southern Sudan and northern regions of South Sudan.
Total rainfall
- Moderate rainfall (50-200mm) expected over most parts of South Sudan, western Ethiopia, and parts of western Kenya.
- Light rainfall (less than 50 mm) expected in southern Sudan, Uganda, western Kenya, southern Tanzania and coastal regions of Somalia.
- Dry conditions expected over most parts of Rwanda, Burundi, Eritrea, Djibouti, central to northern Tanzania, eastern and northern Kenya, central Somalia and eastern and south-eastern parts of Ethiopia.
