Weekly Forecast
At ICPAC we use the Weather Research and Forecasting Model (WRF) to produce our forecasts in a resolution of 10 x 10 Km. Our weekly forecasts are very popular and help stakeholders prepare for extreme weather, and mitigate risks associated with floods, drought or heavy rainfall.

Temperature
Rainfall anomalies
- More than usual rainfall expected over parts of eastern Kenya and southern Somalia.
- Less than usual rainfall expected over most parts of Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda and southern regions of Kenya and Uganda.
Temperature anomalies
- Warmer than usual temperatures expected over most parts of the GHA.
- Cooler than usual temperatures expected over parts of north-eastern Kenya and coastal regions of Somalia and other isolated areas in Ethiopia and Tanzania.
- Rainfall exceeding the 90th percentile expected over most parts of north-eastern Kenya.
Mean temperatures
- Moderate to high temperatures (20-32℃) expected over most parts of the GHA.
- Mild temperature conditions (less than 20℃) expected over western regions of Burundi and Rwanda, south-western Uganda, central to western Kenya, central to northern Ethiopia and parts of northern Somalia.
Heat Stress
- Elevated heat stress levels expected in eastern Tanzania, eastern Kenya and southern Somalia, and most parts of South Sudan.
Total rainfall
- Moderate rainfall (50-200mm) expected over central to western regions of Burundi, Rwanda and Tanzania, central to eastern Kenya and southern Somalia.
- Light rainfall (less than 50 mm) expected over most parts of Kenya, coastal and northern Tanzania, western Uganda and parts of southern regions of South Sudan and Ethiopia.
