Rainfall
Moderately wet to extremely wet conditions
- Observed in the southern parts of Sudan, Ethiopia, southern Somalia, southeastern parts of Kenya, and southern Tanzania.
Moderately dry to severely dry conditions
- Observed in several parts in Tanzania including the central to northern parts, Uganda, several areas in Kenya, the horn of Africa region, southern Ethiopia, and western South Sudan.
Usual rainfall and no rainfall conditions were observed in the rest of the region.
Much Wetter than usual conditions
- Observed in the southern tip of Tanzania, a few pockets in the southeastern lowlands of Kenya, southern coastal parts of Somalia, northern Ethiopia, Djibouti and a few areas in southern Sudan.
Wetter than usual conditions
- Observed mostly in the regions surrounding the much wetter than usual rainfall areas across the region.
Drier to much drier than usual conditions
- Observed in Tanzania, Uganda, several parts of Kenya the Horn of Africa region including the border region between Ethiopia and Somalia, pockets in Ethiopia, western South Sudan, Eritrea and eastern Sudan.
Usual or no rainfall conditions were observed in the rest of the region.
High Rainfall exceeding 200mm
- Observed in southwestern parts including southern, coastal, and western parts of Tanzania, a few pockets in Burundi, southern Uganda, western and central parts of Kenya, and some patches in southwestern Ethiopia.
Moderate rainfall of between 101 and 200mm
- Observed in several parts of the region including Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, southern Somalia, Ethiopia, and southwestern parts of South Sudan.
Light rainfall between 11 and 100 mm
- Observed in central parts of Tanzania, eastern and northern parts of Kenya, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti and northern Somalia.
Little or No rain conditions not exceeding 10mm
- Observed in a few pockets in northern Somalia, and much of Sudan.
