- Observed in western Ethiopia and western Sudan.
Moderate rainfall of between 101 and 200mm
- Observed in western Ethiopia and the border regions with Sudan and South Sudan, wester to central South Sudan, and southern parts of Sudan.
Light rainfall between 11 and 100 mm
- Observed along the coastal and northwestern parts of Tanzania, western Rwanda, Uganda, western and coastal parts of Kenya, south coast and northern parts of Somalia, several parts of Ethiopia, several parts of South Sudan, Sudan, and western Eritrea.
Little or No rain conditions not exceeding 10mm
- Observed in most parts of Tanzania, several parts of Kenya, Somalia, southeastern and northern parts of Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea and Sudan.
Moderately wet to extremely wet conditions
- Observed in a few pockets in Tanzania, Somalia, western and northern Ethiopia, Sudan, South Sudan, and Eritrea.
Moderately dry to severely dry conditions
- Observed in several parts in Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, most parts of Uganda, western and coastal parts of Kenya, several parts of South Sudan, several parts of Ethiopia, a few pockets in Somalia, western parts of Eritrea and pockets in Sudan.
Usual rainfall and no rainfall conditions were observed in the rest of the region.
Much Wetter than usual conditions
- Observed in very few pockets in Tanzania, central and northern parts of Somalia, a few pockets in northern Ethiopia, and a few pockets in Sudan.

- Observed mostly in a few pockets in Tanzania, Somalia, northern parts of Ethiopia, Eritrea and Sudan.
Drier to much drier than usual conditions
- Observed predominantly in western parts of the region including northwestern Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, and southern parts of South Sudan, western and coastal parts of Kenya, Ethiopia, pockets in Somalia, western Eritrea, and a few areas in Sudan.
Usual or no rainfall conditions were observed in the rest of the region.
