Observed rainfall conditions for January 2022
Rainfall

Moderate to heavy rainfall between 200 - 500 mm was observed in much of western, central, and southern Tanzania, including eastern Burundi.
Moderate rainfall between 100 - 200 mm was observed in much of Rwanda, western and southern parts of Burundi, in the north and north-eastern Tanzania, and in a few isolated areas in western Tanzania.
Light rainfall between 50 - 100 mm was observed in southern Uganda, northern Rwanda, western and central parts of Kenya, and in north-eastern Tanzania.
Rainfall between 10 - 50 mm was observed over coastal and central parts of Eritrea, northern and south-western Ethiopia, in a few places in south-western South Sudan, over much of central and northern Uganda, and in western, central, and south-eastern Kenya.
Dry conditions (usual during this time of the year) were observed in most parts of Sudan, north-western and eastern Ethiopia, Somalia, several parts of Eritrea and Djibouti, north-eastern Uganda, and in northern and eastern Kenya.

Much wetter than usual conditions were observed in the south-eastern part of Rwanda, in eastern Burundi, and in isolated parts in north-western Tanzania.

Usual rainfall conditions were observed over southern parts of South Sudan, over much of north, central, and southern Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya, western and southern Burundi, and in north-eastern Tanzania.
Moderately drier to severely drier than usual conditions were observed in the western parts of Tanzania.
