Observed rainfall conditions for October 2021
Rainfall
- Moderate to heavy rainfall between 200 - 500 mm was not observed in any part of the Greater Horn of Africa.
- Moderate rainfall between 100 - 200 mm observed in western parts of Ethiopia, western Sout Sudan, western and central Kenya, over much of Uganda, western Rwanda and in much of western and central Burundi.
- Light rainfall between 50 - 100 mm observed in south-western Sudan, western and central parts of South Sudan, in isolated parts of eastern Ethiopia, in central and eastern Rwanda, eastern Burundi, and north-west Tanzania.
- Rainfall range 10-50 mm observed over southern parts of Sudan, central Eritrea, eastern Djibouti, central and eastern Ethiopia, northern and southern Somalia, over north and eastern Kenya, and in several parts of western and eastern Tanzania.
- Dry conditions (usual during this time of the year) in most parts of Sudan, north-eastern Ethiopia, north-east and central Somalia, in northern Kenya, central and southern parts of Tanzania.
- Much wetter than usual conditions observed in central and north-east Ethiopia.
- Wetter than usual conditions observed in much of northern parts of Ethiopia, central and southern Eritrea, Djibouti, and in isolated parts of western highlands of Kenya.
- Usual rainfall conditions observed over several parts of South Sudan, western, Eritrea, central and western Ethiopia, several parts of Uganda, Burundi western Rwanda, western Kenya, and north-western Tanzania.
- Moderately drier than usual conditions observed in southern parts of Sudan, southern and eastern Ethiopia, over much of north and eastern Kenya, Somalia, eastern Rwanda, and eastern Tanzania.
- Much drier than usual conditions was observed in central and southern Somalia, and eastern and coastal parts of Kenya over the month of October 2021.
