Observed rainfall conditions in September 2021
Rainfall

- Heavy rainfall between 300 - 500 mm was observed over isolated areas in western and north-western Ethiopia.
- Moderate rainfall between 200 - 300 mm was observed in southern parts of Sudan , everywhere in South Sudan, central and northern Uganda, isolated parts in central Ethiopia, and western Kenya.
- Light rainfall between 100 - 200 mm was observed in most parts of South Sudan, southern and central parts of Sudan, most parts of Ethiopia, most parts of northern Eritrea, the highlands of western Kenya, and central and northern Uganda.
- Rainfall between 10 - 100 mm was observed central parts of Sudan; southern , eastern and north-eastern Ethiopia; north-western Eritrea, southern Uganda, everywhere in Rwanda, Burundi, and northern Tanzania.
- Dry conditions (usual during this time of the year) were observed in southern, central and northern Tanzania; southern and northern Kenya, central Somalia, northern parts of Sudan, and costal parts of Eritrea.

- Much wetter than usual conditions were observed in central and north-eastern parts of Sudan.
- Wetter than usual conditions were observed in north-eastern Sudan, southern and eastern South Sudan, north-western Eritrea; sporadic parts in western, north-western and eastern Ethiopia; north-western Somalia, highlands of western Kenya , isolated parts in north-eastern Uganda, much of Burundi, isolated parts in ventral Rwanda, and northern Tanzania.
- Usual rainfall conditions were observed in most parts in southern and central Sudan, central and northern parts of South Sudan, isolated parts in central and northern Ethiopia, central Djibouti, southern and northern Uganda, western and eastern Rwanda, and northern Tanzania.
- Moderately drier than usual conditions were observed in western South Sudan, western Uganda, southern and south-eastern Ethiopia, southern Somalia, and south-eastern and coastal parts of Kenya.

- Moderately wetter than usual to severely wet conditions were observed in north-eastern Sudan, southern and eastern South Sudan, north-western Eritrea; sporadic parts in western, north-western and eastern Ethiopia; north-western Somalia, highlands of western Kenya , isolated parts in north-eastern Uganda, much of Burundi, isolated parts in ventral Rwanda, and northern Tanzania.
