Rainfall
Moderate to high rainfall amounts (>500mm)
- Observed in the southwestern parts of Tanzania.
Moderate rainfall amounts (201-500mm)
- Observed in much of Rwanda and Burundi, in southeastern to western parts of Tanzania, in parts of southern Uganda, and in areas around Lake Victoria in Kenya.
Light rainfall between (11-200mm)
- Observed in several parts of eastern to northern Tanzania, in several parts of Uganda Kenya, in southern tip of South Sudan, in southwestern, central to northeastern Ethiopia, and in parts of Eritrea and Djibouti.
No rainfall or less than 10mm
- Observed in Sudan, central to northern South Sudan, northwestern and eastern Ethiopia, in western Eritrea, parts of Djibouti, in much of Somalia, and in northeastern and eastern Kenya.
Moderately dry to severely dry conditions
- Observed in the southeastern tip of Tanzania, eastern parts of Kenya, southern Somalia, central and southern Ethiopia and a few pockets in southeastern and western South Sudan.
Moderate wet to extremely wet rainfall conditions
- Observed in northwestern, central and southwestern parts of Tanzania, several parts in Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi, western and central Kenya, and in southwestern part South Sudan.
Usual rainfall conditions were observed in the rest of the region.
Drier than and much drier than usual conditions
- Dominated the eastern parts of the region including part of Tanzania, Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia, Djibouti, and Eritrea. These conditions were also experienced in Sudan, South Sudan, southeastern parts of Uganda and the western parts of Rwanda and Burundi.
Wetter and much wetter than usual conditions
- Observed in pocket areas over western and northeastern Uganda, Mount Elgon region of Kenya an in northeastern Rwanda.
Usual rainfall conditions were observed in much of the rest of the region.
