Observed climate conditions for February to April (FMA) 2025
Rainfall
Moderate to high rainfall amounts of exceeding 500mm was observed in a few areas in southwestern parts of Ethiopia, in parts of central and western Kenya, in southern part of Burundi, and in western and southern parts of Tanzania.
Moderate rainfall amounts of between 201-500mm were observed in much of Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi, in southern and central parts of Uganda, in western, central, southern and eastern Kenya, in southern part of Somalia, and in southwestern parts of Ethiopia.
Light rainfall between 11 - 200 mm was observed in several parts of Eritrea and South Sudan, in coastal parts of Djibouti, in northern, central and eastern parts of Ethiopia, in parts of northern and central Somalia, in northern Uganda, in northern and eastern Kenya, and in parts of central Tanzania.
No rainfall or less than 10mm was observed in much of Sudan, western Eritrea, in parts of Djibouti, in parts of northeastern Somalia, and in some northern parts of South Sudan.
Moderately dry to severely dry conditions were observed in several parts of Eritrea, Djibouti, southwestern parts of Sudan, in northern and northeastern Ethiopia, in northern Somalia, in western and southwestern South Sudan, in several parts of Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi, and in central parts of Tanzania.
Moderate wet to severely wet rainfall conditions were observed in eastern South Sudan, in western and southwestern parts of Ethiopia, in southern Somalia, in several parts of Kenya, and in northwestern parts and southern coast of Tanzania.
Usual rainfall conditions were observed in the rest of the region.
Drier than usual conditions were observed in western and southern parts of Eritrea, in Djibouti, in northwestern, western and southwestern South Sudan, in northern and northeastern Ethiopia extending to northern Somalia, in northwestern, central and southwestern Uganda, in central Burundi, and in eastern parts of Rwanda.
Wetter than and much wetter than usual conditions were observed in several parts of north, central and eastern Kenya, in southern Somalia, in western Ethiopia and in northeastern South Sudan.
No rain condition was observed in the several parts of Sudan.
Usual rainfall conditions were observed in much of the rest of the region.
