Rainfall
Moderate to high rainfall amounts (>500mm)
- Observed in the southwestern parts of Tanzania and a few pockets in Uganda and Kenya.
Moderate rainfall amounts (201-500mm)
- Observed in much of Rwanda, Burundi, several parts of Tanzania, Uganda, central to western Kenya and southern parts of Ethiopia.
Light rainfall between (11-200mm)
- Observed in northern parts of Kenya, southern Ethiopia, several parts of Ethiopia, Somalia, northern South Sudan, Sudan, Djibouti and Eritrea.
No rainfall or less than 10mm
- Observed mostly in Sudan.
Moderately dry to severely dry conditions
- Observed in central Somalia, a few pockets in South Sudan, and Sudan.
Moderate wet to extremely wet rainfall conditions
- Observed in most parts across the region including much of Tanzania, parts of Burundi, Rwanda, most parts of Uganda, most parts of Kenya, southern parts of Somalia, most parts of Ethiopia, southern and northern parts of Sudan, Sudan, western Eritrea and Djibouti.
Usual rainfall conditions were observed in the rest of the region.
Drier than and much drier than usual conditions
- Dominated most parts of central Somalia, northwestern border area between Ethiopia and Sudan, a few pockets in northern South Sudan.
Wetter and much wetter than usual conditions
- Dominated most parts of Kenya, a few pockets in southern Somalia, pockets in Ethiopia, and some patches in northwestern Sudan, and southern parts of Sudan.
Usual rainfall conditions were observed in much of the rest of the region.
