Rainfall
Moderate to high rainfall amounts (>500mm)
- Observed in the western parts of Ethiopia and western parts of South Sudan.
Moderate rainfall amounts (201-500mm)
- Observed along the coastal parts of Tanzania and Kenya, western parts of Kenya, eastern to northern parts of Uganda, several parts of South Sudan, southern parts of Sudan and Ethiopia.
Light rainfall between (11-200mm)
- Observed in Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Djibouti, Eritrea and Sudan.
No rainfall or less than 10mm
Observed mostly in the northern parts Sudan.
Moderately dry to severely dry conditions
- These conditions prevailed across much of the region, including parts of Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Somalia, Djibouti, Eritrea, and Sudan.
Moderate wet to extremely wet rainfall conditions
- These conditions were observed in localized areas of Tanzania, southeastern Kenya, Somalia, and Sudan.
Usual rainfall conditions were observed in the rest of the region.
Drier than and much drier than usual conditions
- These conditions prevailed across most parts of the region, affecting all countries in Greater Horn Africa.
Wetter and much wetter than usual conditions
- These conditions were confined to localized areas, including southern Tanzania, parts of Somalia, and isolated pockets in northern Sudan.
Usual rainfall conditions were observed in much of the rest of the region.
