Observed climate conditions for November to January(NDJ) 2024
Rainfall

Moderate to high rainfall amounts of exceeding 500mm was observed in a few isolated parts of western and central Kenya, in much of Burundi, and in parts of northwestern Tanzania.
Moderate rainfall amounts of between 201-500mm were observed in western and southwestern Ethiopia, in southwestern and southern parts of South Sudan in several parts of Uganda and Rwanda, and in western, central and southeastern Kenya.
Light rainfall between 11 - 200 mm was observed in southern parts of Sudan, in several parts of Eritrea, Djibouti, South Sudan, Ethiopia and Somalia, in northern Kenya, and in central and southern Tanzania.
No rainfall or less than 10mm was observed in northern and central Sudan.

Moderately dry to extremely dry conditions were observed in western and southern parts of Eritrea, in much of Djibouti, in northern to central Somalia, in northern and western South Sudan, in northern, central, southern and eastern Ethiopia, in parts of northeastern and western Uganda, in northern parts of Kenya and in southern parts of Tanzania.
Moderate to extremely wet rainfall conditions were observed in western, northwestern and parts of eastern Ethiopia extending to parts of southern Somalia, in much of Rwanda and Burundi, in southwestern and southeastern Uganda, in parts of eastern and southwestern South Sudan, in parts of western and south-central Kenya, and in northern and northwestern Tanzania.
Usual rainfall conditions were observed in the rest of the region.

Drier than usual and much drier than usual conditions were observed in eastern parts of Sudan, in northern and western parts of South Sudan, in northern, central and southern Ethiopia, in Djibouti, in northern and central Somalia, in parts of northeastern Uganda extending to northern parts of Kenya, and in southeastern part of Tanzania.
Wetter than usual and much wetter than usual conditions were observed in northwestern, western and eastern parts of Ethiopia, extending to parts of southern Somalia, in much of Rwanda and northern Burundi, in parts of southwest and southeast Uganda, in parts of western and southern Kenya, and in parts of northern Tanzania.
No rain condition was observed in the much of Sudan and in northern parts of South Sudan.
Usual rainfall conditions were observed in the rest of the region.
