Observed rainfall conditions for October to December (OND) 2023
Rainfall
Rainfall amounts exceeding 500mm were observed in southern parts of Somalia, in parts of southwestern and southeastern Ethiopia, in areas around Lake Victori, in central and coastal parts of Kenya, in southern Burundi, and in northwestern and northern coast of Tanzania.
Moderate rainfall between 100 - 500 mm was observed in several parts of South Sudan, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, in western and southern and eastern Ethiopia, in several parts of central and southern Somalia, and in several parts of northern, eastern, central, coastal, western and southern Kenya.
Light rainfall between 10 - 100 mm was observed in southern part of Sudan, in parts of the northern South Sudan, in several parts of Eritrea and Djibouti, in northern, northeastern and central Ethiopia, in northeastern Somalia, and in northwestern Kenya.
Dry conditions were observed in several parts of Sudan.
Wetter than and much wetter than usual conditions were observed in western parts of Eritrea, in parts of southern and eastern Sudan, in several parts of Somalia, South Sudan, and northwestern, western, southern and eastern Ethiopia, in much of northeastern, eastern, central, western, southern and coastal Kenya, and in several parts of northwestern, western, centra. Usual rainfall conditions were observed in areas in eastern and southern Sudan, in central and southern coast of Eritrea, in several parts of Djibouti, in parts of northeastern and southern South Sudan, in several parts of Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi, in northwestern Kenya, and in southwestern and southern parts of Tanzania.
Drier than and much drier than usual conditions were observed in central Sudan, in southern parts of Eritrea, central and northeastern Ethiopia, and part of northwestern Kenya.
Moderate to extremely wet rainfall conditions were observed western Eritrea, in parts of eastern and southern Sudan, in western, northwestern, southern and eastern Ethiopia, in several parts of Somalia, and South Sudan, in northeastern, eastern, coastal, central and western Kenya, in parts of northern Uganda, in southern parts of Burundi, and in northwestern, northern, central and eastern parts of Tanzania.
Moderately dry to extremely dry conditions were observed southern parts of Eritrea, in northeastern and central parts of Ethiopia, in central parts of Sudan, in southern Rwanda and in parts of northern Burundi, and in part of northwestern Kenya.
Usual rainfall conditions were observed in the rest of the region.
