Recent rainfall totals

  • Very Heavy seasonal rainfall (above 1000 mm) observed in sporadic parts of highlands of central and northern Ethiopia and isolated areas over highlands of western Kenya.
  • Heavy rainfall (between 500 - 1000 mm) observed over south-western and south-eastern parts of Sudan, most parts of South Sudan, highlands of central, northern and western Ethiopia, central and northern Uganda, highlands of western Kenya.
  • Moderate rainfall (between 100 - 500 mm) observed in most parts of central South Sudan, north-eastern South Sudan, north-eastern Ethiopia, costal parts of Kenya and southern Somalia, south-western and central Uganda.
  • Light rainfall (between 50 - 100 mm) observed in most parts of Burundi and eastern Rwanda.
  • Rainfall range between 10-50 observed over northern Sudan, costal parts of Eritrea, south-eastern Ethiopia, north-western Somalia, north central and southern Kenya, north-western, eastern and costal parts of Tanzania.
  • Dry conditions (usual during this time of the year) in most parts of central Tanzania, southern, north-eastern Kenya, centra Somalia and far north Sudan.

  • Much wetter than usual conditions observed in isolated parts of western and eastern Sudan, south-western Ethiopia, western and Turkana region in Kenya.
  • Wetter than usual conditions observed in most parts of central Sudan, south, south-western and eastern Ethiopia, eastern and Karamoja region of Uganda, western and Turkana region of Kenya and northwestern and Lake Victoria region of Tanzania.
  • Normal rainfall conditions (usual average conditions) observed in most parts of southern and south-eastern Sudan, almost everywhere in South Sudan, western and northern Ethiopia, north-western Eritrea, and northern, central and south-western Uganda.
  • Drier than usual conditions observed in most parts of north-eastern Rwanda and isolated area in south-eastern Ethiopia.
