Recent rainfall totals

Moderate to heavy rainfall between 50 - 100 mm was observed in western, southwestern and northwestern parts of Uganda, in western and central parts of Kenya, in much of Rwanda and Burundi, and in northwestern parts of Tanzania.

Light rainfall between 25 - 50 mm was observed in some parts of southern South Sudan, in northwestern, central and eastern Uganda, in parts of southeastern and coastal Kenya, and in parts of northwestern Tanzania and northern coast of Tanzania.

Rainfall between 5 - 25 mm was observed in the eastern coast of Sudan, in the western, southern and eastern parts of Ethiopia, in central and southern parts of Somalia, in parts of southern South Soudan, in northeastern and parts of eastern Kenya, and in southwestern, central, northeastern and eastern Tanzania.

Usual dry rainfall was observed in much of Sudan, northern Somalia, in northern and central parts of South Sudan, in parts northwestern, central and eastern Ethiopia, in northwestern Kenya, and in parts of central Tanzania.

Recent rainfall anomalies

Wetter than and much wetter than usual conditions were observed in the part of eastern Ethiopia, in western parts of central Somalia and southern coast of Somalia, in southern parts of South Sudan, in western, southwestern, eastern and northern parts of Uganda, in western and northern coastal areas of Kenya, in several parts of Rwanda and Burundi, and in parts of northwestern Tanzania.

Usual rainfall conditions were observed in western parts of Eritrea, several parts of Djibouti, in parts of central and southern Uganda, in parts of central and southeastern Kenya, and in northwestern and northeastern parts of Tanzania.

No rainfall conditions were observed in much of Sudan, in northern and central parts of South Sudan, in western Eritrea, in parts of northwestern, central and eastern Ethiopia, in northern parts of Somalia, in northwestern Kenya, and in central part of Tanzania.

Drier than usual conditions were observed over central and southern parts of Eritrea, in several parts of Ethiopia, in parts of western and eastern South Sudan, in northern and eastern parts of Kenya, and in central, western and southern parts of Tanzania.

Standardized Precipitation Index

Moderately to severely wet conditions were observed in western, southwestern, eastern and northwestern parts of Uganda, in southern parts of South Sudan, in western and parts of northern coast of Kenya, in eastern Ethiopia, in western part of central Somalia, in much of Rwanda, in several parts of Burundi, and in northwestern parts of Tanzania

Moderately to severely dry conditions were observed in western to eastern parts of South Sudan, in parts of northern, western and southwestern Ethiopia, in southern parts of Somalia, and in southeastern Tanzania.

Usual rainfall conditions much of the rest of the region including Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, north and central Somalia, north and central South Sudan, several parts of Ethiopia, northern, central eastern and coastal parts of Kenya, several parts of eastern, central and southern Uganda, and in much of Tanzania, receive near normal rainfall conditions or remained generally dry
