Recent rainfall totals

Heavy rainfall exceeding 200mm was observed in central parts of Kenya.

Moderate to heavy rainfall of between 51-200 mm was observed in southwestern Ethiopia, in central and eastern parts of Uganda, in western, central and southern coast of Kenya, in western Rwanda, in northern Burundi, and in coastal and parts of southern and western Tanzania.

Moderate rainfall of between 26 - 50 mm was observed in parts of northeastern, eastern, and southern Ethiopia, in parts of northwestern, central and southern Somalia, in southern parts of South Sudan, in several parts of Uganda, in central and eastern Rwanda, in southern Burundi, and in parts of northern and western Tanzania.

Light rainfall of between 6- 25 mm occurred in parts of western and southern Eritrea, in parts of Djibouti, in western, central and eastern South Sudan, in central, eastern and southern Ethiopia, in parts of central and southern Somalia, in northern and eastern parts of Kenya, and in parts of central Tanzania.

Rainfall less than 5mm was observed in much of Sudan, western and central parts of Eritrea, in parts of Djibouti, in northwestern Ethiopia, in parts of northern South Sudan, in northeastern Somalia, and in northern and eastern parts of Kenya.

Standardized Precipitation Index

Moderately wet to extremely wet conditions were observed in parts of Djibouti, in northeastern and eastern Ethiopia, in central and part of northern Somalia, in southeastern part of South Sudan, in part of western Uganda, in central parts of Kenya, in northwestern Burundi, and in north-central and parts of southern Tanzania.

Moderately dry to extremely dry conditions were observed in a several parts of Eritrea, in northern western and parts of southern Ethiopia, southern parts of Somalia, in northeastern, western and southwestern South Sudan, in southwestern and western Uganda, in northeastern and astern parts of Kenya, in parts of southern Burundi, and in parts of northwestern and eastern Tanzania.

Usual rainfall conditions and no rainfall conditions were observed in much of the rest of the region.

Recent rainfall anomalies

Wetter than and much wetter than usual conditions were observed in much of Djibouti, northeastern and eastern Ethiopia, in parts of northern and central Somalia, in southeastern part of South Sudan, in central parts of Kenya, in northern Burundi, and in parts of north-central and southern Tanzania.

Drier than and much drier than usual conditions were observed in much of Eritrea, in several parts of South Sudan, in northern, western and southern parts of Ethiopia, in northern and eastern Kenya, in southern Somalia, in southwestern Uganda, in southern Burundi, and in northern, central and eastern parts of Tanzania.

Near Normal and no rainfall conditions were observed in northwestern and parts of eastern Ethiopia, in parts of southeastern South Sudan, in northern and eastern Uganda, in western parts of Kenya, in much of Rwanda, and in parts of western and northeastern Tanzania.
