Recent rainfall totals

Moderate rainfall between 26 - 100 mm was observed in western South Sudan, in western and central Ethiopia, in parts of western, central and southeastern Uganda, in western, central and parts of coastal Kenya, and in northern coast of Tanzania.

Light rainfall between 5 - 25 mm was observed in parts of northwestern and central Eritrea, in southern parts of Sudan, in northern and eastern parts of South Sudan, in parts of northern, eastern and southwestern Ethiopia, in parts of northern and southern Somalia, in several parts of Rwanda and Burundi, in much of the northern and southern Uganda, in parts of central Kenya, and in northern and eastern Tanzania.

Usual dry rainfall was observed in much of Sudan, in western and southern parts of Eritrea, in much of Djibouti, in northeastern and eastern Ethiopia, in parts of northern, central and southwestern Somalia, in southeastern South Sudan, in northern and eastern Kenya, and in much of western, central and southern Tanzania.

Recent rainfall anomalies

Wetter than usual conditions were observed in central parts of Eritrea, and in northeastern and central parts of Ethiopia.

Drier than usual conditions were observed in southern parts of Sudan, in western Eritrea, in much of eastern and southern South Sudan, in several parts of northern, southern and eastern Ethiopia, in much of Somalia, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda and Burundi, and in northern western and northern coast of Tanzania.

Usual rainfall conditions were in much of western South Sudan, in western and central parts of Ethiopia, and in northeastern and southern parts of Tanzania.

No rainfall conditions were observed in much of Sudan, in parts of Djibouti, in northwestern and eastern parts of Kenya, and in parts of central and western Tanzania.

Standardized Precipitation Index

Moderately to severely wet conditions were observed in in central and northeastern parts of Ethiopia.

Moderately to severely dry conditions were observed in southeastern Sudan, in much of eastern and southern South Sudan, in northeastern, southern and eastern Ethiopia, in several parts of Somalia, in much of Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi, in western, central and coastal areas of Kenya, and in northwestern parts of Tanzania.

Usual rainfall conditions were observed in much of the rest of the region.
