Exceptional rainfall

Drier than and much drier than usual conditions were observed in central to southern Ethiopia, in southern parts of South Sudan extending to northern parts of Uganda, in southern Somalia, northwestern Rwanda, and in several parts of Kenya and Tanzania.

Wetter than and much wetter than usual conditions were observed in northern and central parts of Uganda, and in isolated parts of northwestern Tanzania and central and coastal Kenya.

No rainfall condition was observed in in much of Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia, western Eritrea, in parts of Djibouti, in northern, northwestern, northeastern and eastern Ethiopia, and in parts of northwestern and eastern Kenya

Near Normal conditions were observed in Burundi, Rwanda, central and southern Uganda, in parts of western, coastal and central Kenya, and in isolated parts of northern Tanzania.

Moderate to high rainfall of between 26-100 mm was observed in Burundi, in several parts of Rwanda, in southern parts of Uganda, in western and central parts of Kenya, and in northwestern and western parts of Tanzania.

Light rainfall of between 6- 25 mm occurred in central, eastern and western Uganda, in central southern and coastal Kenya, in northwestern Rwanda, in northern and central coast of Eritrea, in eastern, central and southern Tanzania.

Rainfall less than 5mm was observed in the rest of the region.

Moderately dry to severely dry conditions were observed in central parts of Tanzania, in central to southwestern Ethiopia, in southern parts of South Sudan,

Moderately wet to extremely wet conditions were observed in a few areas in northern Uganda,
