Recent rainfall totals

  • Very Heavy rainfall more 200 mm was observed in Nairobi metropolitan and surrounding areas in Kenya.
  • Heavy rainfall between 100 - 100 mm was observed in central Kenya.
  • Heavy to moderate rainfall between 50 - 100 mm was observed in eastern parts and Lake Victoria site of Kenya, southwestern Somalia, most parts of Burundi, eastern and western Tanzania.
  • Light rainfall between 25 - 50 mm was observed in most parts of southern Somalia, Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda.
  • Rainfall between 5 - 25 mm was observed in southwestern South Sudan, southern and southwestern Ethiopia and southern and central Tanzania.
  • Usual dry (usually dry in this time of season) was observed in Sudan, central and northern South Sudan, Turkana region of Kenya, eastern, central and northern Ethiopia.
Recent rainfall anomalies

  • Much wetter than usual conditions were observed in central and northeastern Kenya, southwestern Somalia.
  • Wetter than usual conditions were observed in southwestern parts of South Sudan, most parts of Burundi, central and northeastern Kenya, Southern Somalia, eastern Tanzania.
  • Usual rainfall conditions were observed in a few isolated parts in central South Sudan, central and north-eastern Ethiopia, northern Eritrea, south-western and central Uganda, and western Rwanda.
  • Moderately drier than usual conditions were observed in western Tanzania, eastern Rwanda, western Kenya, central Uganda.
  • Drier than usual conditions were observed over most parts of southern and central Tanzania,southeastern parts of South Sudan, and most parts of southern and central Ethiopia.
  • Much drier than usual conditions were observed over isolated parts in southern and central Tanzania, southwestern Ethiopia.

  • Moderately to severely wetter than usual conditions were observed in central and northeastern Kenya, southwestern Somalia, most parts of Burundi, and northwestern and Tanzania.
  • Usual rainfall conditions were observed in western and northern parts of Tanzania, western and coastal Kenya, central and northern Uganda, southern, central, north, and eastern Ethiopia.
  • Moderately to severely drier than usual conditions were southwestern Ethiopia, southern and central Tanzania, southwestern Uganda.
