Recent rainfall totals
  • Heavy to moderate rainfall between 50 - 100 mm was observed in highlands of central and northern Ethiopia, western Darfour region of Sudan, north-western parts of South Sudan, and isolated areas in western Kenya.
  • Light rainfall between 25 - 50 mm was observed in most parts of South Sudan, southern and eastern parts of Sudan, scattered areas in Uganda, and the highlands of western Kenya.
  • Rainfall between 5 - 25 mm was observed in southern Uganda, coastal parts of Kenya, northern Sudan, and north-eastern Ethiopia.
  • Usual dry (usually dry in this time of season) was observed everywhere in Tanzania; southern, north-eastern, and northern Kenya; Somali region of Ethiopia, and central and northern Somalia.
Recent rainfall anomalies
  • Much wetter than usual conditions were observed in north-eastern Ethiopia and northern Somalia.
  • Wetter than usual conditions were observed in isolated areas the Blue Nile, eastern Darfour region, and north-eastern Ethiopia.
  • Usual rainfall conditions were observed over much of southern and central parts of Sudan, southern north-eastern and north-western South Sudan, most parts of Uganda, western Kenya, and most parts of Ethiopia.
  • Moderately drier than usual conditions were observed over western, north-eastern, and southern parts of Sudan; central, Jonglei, and Bibor regions of South Sudan; the highlands of central Ethiopia, the Lake Victoria basin sites of Uganda, and Tanzania.

  • Moderately to severely wetter than usual conditions were observed over the Blue Nile of Sudan, and north-eastern Ethiopia.
  • Usual rainfall conditions were observed over much of the southern and central parts of Sudan; southern, north-eastern, and north-western South Sudan, most parts of Uganda, western Kenya, most parts of Ethiopia.
  • Moderately to severely drier than usual conditions were observed over western Darfour and south Kordofan regions of Sudan, Jonglei and Bibor regions of South Sudan, and the highlands of central Ethiopia.
