Rainfall
Wetter than Normal to much wetter than normal Conditions
- Much wetter than Normal: This category was observed along the coastal parts of Tanzania, western parts of Uganda, western and coastal parts of Kenya, much of southern Somalia, southern and southeastern Somalia, pockets in southern and northeastern South Sudan, pockets in Sudan and Eritrea.
- Wetter than Normal: This category was observed in areas surrounding the darkest green areas, covering most of countries highlighted above.
Near Normal Conditions
- Predominantly observed in Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Somalia, western Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea, much of western South Sudan.
Drier Than Normal Conditions
- These conditions were observed in a few pockets in in eastern and northwestern parts of Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, most parts of Uganda, several parts of Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia, South Sudan, western Eritrea, much of South Sudan, and southeastern tip of Sudan.
No Rain
- Observed in the very northern parts of the region, particularly in Sudan, and southern parts of Tanzania and eastern pockets in Kenya.
High Rainfall Accumulation Highest Rainfall (>100mm)
- These amounts were recorded in the northern coast of Tanzania, and the Lake Victoria region of Kenya and Uganda, and southern Ethiopia.
Moderate to high Rainfall of between (26-100mm)
- These were observed in much of the eastern and northwestern parts of Tanzania, western and coastal parts of Kenya, much of Uganda, a few pockets in Rwanda and Burundi, southern parts of South Sudan, several parts of Ethiopia, most parts of southern Somalia and the border regions of S. Sudan, Sudan and Ethiopia.
Moderate to Low Rainfall of between (6mm–25mm)
- These were observed in southern, central and northern parts of Tanzania, a few pockets in Rwanda and Burundi, several parts of Kenya, northern parts of South Sudan, southwestern and northern parts of Somalia, northern parts of Ethiopia, Eritrea, and southeastern parts of Sudan.
Very Low or No Rain Very Low Rainfall (1–5mm)
- These were observed in southern and central parts of Tanzania, several parts of Kenya, the horn region of Somalia, Djibouti, several parts of Sudan, and Eritrea.
