Rainfall
Wetter Than Normal Conditions (Green and Light Green)
- Much Wetter than Normal (Dark Green): Concentrated heavily over the southern parts of the region including Tanzania, Burundi, Uganda, and Kenya.
- Wetter than Normal (Light Green): Forms a wide band surrounding the darkest green area, covering most of countries highlighted above.
Near Normal Conditions (Light Blue)
- Near Normal: Predominantly observed in equatorial parts of the region including Uganda, Somalia, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania.
Drier Than Normal Conditions (Yellow and Orange)
- Drier than Normal (Yellow) and Much Drier than Normal (Orange): These conditions dominate the northern parts of the region. They include northern Uganda, southeastern South Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia and Kenya. The orange ('Much drier than normal') is evident across most of the countries highlighted.
No Rain (White)
- No Rain: Concentrated in the northwestern parts of the region including Sudan, South Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Djibouti and Somalia.
High Rainfall Accumulation (Light Green to Dark Green)
- Highest Rainfall (101–200 mm): These values were concentrated in northwestern and southeastern parts of Tanzania.
- Significant Rainfall (26–50 mm & 51–100 mm): These values were recorded in most parts south of the region including Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania.
Moderate to Low Rainfall (Orange & Yellow)
- Low Rainfall (6–10 mm & 11–25 mm): These values typically ring the high-rainfall areas and transition into the driest zones. They are concentrated towards the northern parts of the region.
Very Low or No Rain (White & Light Grey)
- Very Low Rainfall (1–5 mm): Forms a major transitional zone in northeastern South Sudan, parts of Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya, and Uganda.
- Negligible/No Rain (<1 mm or No Data): These dry conditions dominate Sudan, South Sudan, northwestern and eastern parts of Ethiopia, and several parts of Somalia.
