Rainfall
Wetter Than Normal to much wetter than normal Conditions
- Much wetter than Normal: This category was observed along the south-north transect of the Rift Valley regions of Kenya and Tanzania, northwestern Tanzania, northeastern Burundi, and northeastern Rwanda.
- Wetter than Normal: This category was observed in areas surrounding the darkest green areas, covering most of countries highlighted above.
Near Normal Conditions
- Predominantly observed in southeastern and western parts of Tanzania, western Burundi and western Rwanda, southern and eastern Uganda, western and eastern lowlands of Kenya, southwestern coast of Eritrea, and in northeastern Djibouti.
Drier Than Normal Conditions
- Drier than Normal and Much Drier than Normal: These conditions were observed in northern Uganda, southern to central South Sudan, several parts of Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, southern Somalia, and eastern parts of Kenya.
No Rain
- Observed in the very northern and the dry parts of the region, particularly in Sudan, northern South Sudan, eastern Eritrea, northwestern and eastern Ethiopia, northeastern tip of Kenya, and in much of Somalia.
High Rainfall Accumulation Highest Rainfall (101–200mm)
- Rainfall amounts between 101 and 200 mm were recorded in some parts of central Kenya and some areas across the north-south transect in the Rift Valley region of Tanzania.
Moderate to high Rainfall of between (26-100mm)
- These were observed in much of Rwanda and Burundi and Tanzania, in southern parts of Uganda, and in western, central and southern Kenya.the southern parts of amounts.
Moderate to Low Rainfall of between (6mm–10mm)
- These were observed over central to northern Uganda, southern tip of South Sudan, southwestern to central Ethiopia, northwestern and some parts in the eastern region of Kenya, and over a few pockets in eastern Tanzania.
- Very Low or No Rain Very Low Rainfall (1–5mm): These were observed in much of the northern sectors of the region including much of Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia, and in northern and central South Sudan, nothern, eastern, western and southeastern Ethiopia, and in northeastern and eastern Kenya.
