Rainfall
Moderate to high Rainfall of between (26-200mm)
- The observed conditions were concentrated in the northern sector of the region, particularly over western and northwestern Ethiopia, the border area between Eritrea, Sudan, South Sudan, and Ethiopia, southern Sudan, western South Sudan. In the equatorial sector, comparable conditions were observed over northwestern Uganda and western Kenya and pocket areas along the Kenyan and Tanzanian coasts.
Moderate to Low Rainfall of between (6mm–25mm)
- These were observed in the regions surrounding the moderate and high rainfall including the coastal parts of Tanzania, Kenya, Somalia, western Kenya, several parts of Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea and Sudan.
Very Low or No Rain Very Low Rainfall (1–5mm)
- These were observed in most parts of the region including Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea, South Sudan and Sudan.
Wetter Than Normal to much wetter than normal Conditions
- Much wetter than Normal: This category was observed in the northern parts of the region including most parts of Sudan, South Sudan, Ethiopia, and Eritrea.
- Wetter than Normal: This category was observed in areas surrounding the darkest green areas, covering most of countries highlighted above.
Near Normal Conditions
- Predominantly observed along the coastal parts of Tanzania, Kenya and Somalia, northern parts of Uganda, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea and Sudan.
Drier Than Normal Conditions
- These conditions were observed in northern coastal parts of Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, South Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea and a few areas in Sudan.
Much Drier Than Normal Conditions
- These conditions were observed in Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, South Sudan, Kenya, Somalia, and southeastern Ethiopia.
No Rain
- Observed in Tanzania, Kenya, Somalia, Eritrea, Ethiopia and Sudan.
