Strengthening Community Resilience to climate change in Eastern Africa Region

The Pre-GHACOF60 climate change workshop has been organized by ICPAC in collaboration with the European Union (EU) through Global Climate Change Alliance Plus (GCCA+) programme to bring together climate change relevant institutions, agencies, academicians, practitioners and disaster risk reduction experts among others to deliberate and come up with the way forward on how best community resilience can be strengthened through adaptation activities at the same time development is attained.

Objectives

To outline actions to strengthen community resilience and local adaptive capacity to climatic change in a changing eastern Africa climate while attaining development.

Specific objectives: -

  1. provide credible information that strengthens community resilience to disasters and climate change;
  2. ascertain effective communication of climate change and disaster risk reduction information;
  3. build partnerships, roles, responsibilities between different stakeholders
  4. to prepare policy recommendations to be shared during climate outlook forum and beyond.

Expected Outputs

  1. Gaps in disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation and development identified and outlined.
  2. Outlined programme of action on climate disasters and development, including identification of objectives, key activities, partnerships, roles and responsibility.
  3. Built sustainable mechanisms for the collection and sharing of information related to climate change and disaster risk reduction locally, nationally and regionally
