- Longest dry spells between 8 and 10 days expected over central and southern Tanzania
- Shortest dry spells between 2 and 4 days expected over coastal Kenya and Somalia, and localized areas in south-western Ethiopa.
- The longest wet spells of between 6 and 10 days are expected over southern Ethiopia, Rwanda, Burundi, south-eastern and western Uganda, and south-western Ethiopia
- Shortest wet spells of between 1 and 4 days are expected over north-eastern Kenya, eastern Ethiopia, central to northern Somalia, Djibouti, and coastal Eritrea.
- A south to north-eastern progression of onset starting in February to early May is expected
- Delayed onset expected over central to western Kenya, Uganda, and parts of central Ethiopia
- High chances that seasonal rainfall will exceed 300 mm in most parts of Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, south-western South Sudan, south-western Ethiopia, and central to western Kenya
- High chances for normal to early onset over most parts of the region, while delayed onset is indicated over localized areas over parts of central Kenya, Uganda, southern Ethiopia and central Somalia.
- Warmer than average conditions are expected over the whole region
- Probabilities for warmer than average temperatures are most enhanced over Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, northern Somalia, northern Kenya and southern to eastern Tanzania
- Drier-than-Normal Conditions likely over Somalia, eastern to northern Kenya, mos parts of Ethiopia, Djibouti, coastal Eritrea, western South Sudan, western Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and northwestern Tanzania
- Wetter-than-Normal Conditions expected over most parts of Tanzania, south-western and part of western Kenya, eastern Uganda, eastern South Sudan, and western Ethiopia.
