Temperature
Temperature anomalies
- Warmer than normal temperatures expected in Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia, central to eastern Kenya, most parts of Tanzania, central to eastern Ethiopia, Rwanda, and Burundi.
- Cooler than normal temperatures expected in northern Sudan, South Sudan, and northern Uganda.
Rainfall anomalies
- Wetter than average conditions expected over southwestern Sudan into north western South Sudan, western Ethiopia and coastal regions of southern Somalia and northern coastal Kenya.
Exceptional rainfall
- Heavy (top 10%) rainfall expected over a few isolated regions in south-western Ethiopia and southern Sudan.
Mean temperature
- Hot conditions with temperatures above 32 ℃ expected over central to eastern Sudan, north eastern Ethiopia, and parts of Eritrea, Djibouti and northeastern Somalia.
- Moderate temperatures between 20 - 32 ℃ expected over western Sudan, South Sudan, northern Uganda, eastern and northern Ethiopia, Somalia, northern and eastern Kenya, and parts of western and eastern Tanzania.
- Cold conditions with temperatures less than 20℃ expected in parts of central to southern Ethiopia, central to western Kenya, southern Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and parts of central and southern Tanzania.
Total rainfall
- Moderate rainfall (50-100mm) expected over cross border regions of southern Sudan and northern South Sudan, western Ethiopia and coastal regions of Somalia and Kenya.
- Light rainfall (less than 50 mm) expected over parts of southern Tanzania, western Kenya, central and southern Uganda, Rwanda, central and eastern South Sudan, northern and southern Somalia, parts of western Ethiopia and southern Sudan.
- Dry conditions expected over northern Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, north-eastern and south-eastern Ethiopia, central Somalia, northern and eastern Kenya, parts of southern South Sudan into northern Uganda, eastern Burundi and most parts of Tanzania.
