Heavy rainfall
Exceptionally heavy rainfall is expected in a few areas of north-western Ethiopia.
  • Exceptionally heavy rainfall (top 1% on record) is expected in a few areas of north-western Ethiopia.
  • Very heavy rainfall (top 5% on record) is expected in north-eastern and western Ethiopia, central and southern parts of Sudan, Ethiopia-Sudan cross border areas, north-western South Sudan, and north-eastern Somalia.
  • Heavy rainfall (top 10% on record) is expected over central and southern parts of Sudan, western Eritrea; parts of central, western and eastern Ethiopia; parts of north-western South Sudan, and northern Somalia.
Rainfall forecast (Total mm)
  • Heavy rainfall above 200 mm is expected in most parts of western Ethiopia and north-western South Sudan.
  • Moderate rainfall between 50-200 mm is expected in southern Sudan, western and central Ethiopia, western Eritrea, parts of north-eastern Somalia, western and central South Sudan, parts of northern Uganda, and western Kenya.
  • Light rainfall less than 50 mm is expected in parts of central Sudan, southern Ethiopia, Djibouti, southern Eritrea, northern and southern Somalia, parts of western Kenya, central and southern Uganda, and parts of eastern and southern Tanzania.
  • Dry conditions are expected in much of Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, much of eastern and northern Kenya, parts of central Somalia, parts of southern Ethiopia, south-eastern South Sudan and northern Sudan.

  • High temperatures above 32℃ are expected in northern Sudan, coastal Eritrea, parts of north-eastern Ethiopia, parts of Djibouti, and regions in north-western coast of Somalia.
  • Moderate temperature between 20-32℃ are expected over southern Sudan, South Sudan, north-eastern and south-eastern Ethiopia, Somalia, north-western and eastern Kenya, northern Uganda, parts of eastern Rwanda and Burundi, and western and eastern Tanzania.
  • Low temperatures below 20℃ are expected over much of southern to northern Ethiopia, parts of central to western Kenya, parts of southern Uganda, western Rwanda, western Burundi, and parts of central to southern Tanzania.
